Plumber in Blende

Blende at a glance

Blende is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Pueblo County with 788 people at the 2020 census. It covers about 537 acres, and the Pueblo post office serves its addresses.

What that means for your plumbing

Blende is a small, close-knit area of mostly older homes, many with additions and updates made over the years. Homes like these often have a mix of pipe materials, and the joins between old and new are where leaks tend to start. Corrosion at a copper-to-steel joint can drip slowly for months inside a wall. See fixtures and remodels.

No post office of its own

Blende has never had its own post office, which says a lot about how closely it has always been tied to Pueblo next door. Residents use Pueblo services for almost everything, and plumbers who work in the city cover it as part of their usual area. Because Blende sits right next to the city, many residents work and shop in Pueblo and come home to quieter streets with older, solidly built houses.

Short, sharp cold snaps

Like the rest of the Pueblo area, Blende gets less snow than most of Colorado, but it still has a few very cold nights each winter. Homes used to mild weather are often the ones caught out, with hoses left on taps and swamp cooler lines left full. A split pipe under a sink on an outside wall is a common result. Disconnect hoses in the fall and drain the cooler line, and if a pipe has burst, see emergency plumbing.
