Plumber in Salt Creek

Salt Creek at a glance

Salt Creek is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Pueblo County with 507 people at the 2020 census and an area of about 277 acres. The Pueblo post office serves the area.

What that means for your plumbing

The community takes its name from Salt Creek, a stream that runs along its west side. Homes near a creek can see higher groundwater after storms, and older sewer lines in low ground are more likely to settle or let roots and water in. Repeated backups or a damp patch in the yard are worth a camera look. See sewer and septic.

Barrio Salado

The neighborhood is also known as Barrio Salado, a name that reflects its long Hispanic heritage and close community ties. Many families have lived in the same homes for generations, and those homes carry decades of repairs and updates. Many of these houses were built close together on small lots, so a sewer or water line problem on one property can sometimes point to aging pipe along the whole street.

Older homes, practical fixes

With so many long-held homes, the plumbing in Salt Creek often includes original drain lines, older water heaters and fixtures that have been repaired rather than replaced. Small leaks under sinks, worn shut-off valves and slow drains are common. Replacing worn valves and supply hoses when a fixture is serviced prevents many surprise floods. If the water heater is more than ten years old or rumbles when it heats, see water heaters.
